Salisbury Man Arrested for Assault, Robbery of Multiple Individuals During Computer Sale

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Police Department has arrested a man who they say assaulted and robbed multiple people under the pretenses of selling them a computer.

Police have arrested 23-year-old Yohance Jahi Baynard on three counts of first degree assault, three counts of armed robbery, three counts of second degree assault, three counts of reckless endangerment, and related firearm charges. He was committed to the Wicomico County Detention Center on no bond.

On Sunday, Jun. 28, officers with the Salisbury Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery in the 500 block of Emory Court. The victim advised officers that he had arranged to meet at an apartment complex in the area to purchase a gaming desktop computer listed online. Upon arriving, the victim was confronted by the seller, later identified as Baynard, who demanded money while brandishing a firearm.

SPD reminds residents to practice the following guidelines when buying or selling items online, such as Facebook Marketplace:

  • Choose a safe spot to meet
  • Never meet a buyer/seller alone
  • Protect all of your personal information
  • Report any suspicious activity

The department also offers an E-Commerce Zone in the front parking lot of the precinct located at 699 West Salisbury Parkway.
