Local attorney weighs in on Supreme Court ruling

On Thursday, the Supreme Court announced that they were evenly divided in a case concerning President Obama’s executive action on immigration. It was estimated that if ruling passed, it would affect up to 5 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States from being deported and allow them to the legally work in the country. 47 ABC spoke to Eduardo Gonzalez, a local immigration lawyer, who weighed in on this matter. Gonzalez he tells us this immigration plan has the possibility of coming back, depending on the next elected president.
Let’s say for example if Hillary Clinton wins and she puts presumably a liberal judge then it is going to be 5-4 in favor of DAPA and theoretically then another action can be taken that would be in favor. At that same time if Trump wins and puts in a conservative judge to fill in that slot then you can get a more definitive answer on that, ” says Gonzalez.
Gonzalez also reminds that this divide among the Supreme Court doesn’t change current immigration policies, meaning undocumented immigrants without a criminal background a low priority when it comes to deportation.
