The Salisbury City Council looking into a tree ordinance

SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury City Council plans to review a new tree ordinance tonight. If approved, the legislation would allow the city to accept $150,000 from the Chesapeake Bay Trust to plant 834 trees throughout the city.

Trees have a positive impact on the environment. They can significantly improve air quality, manage stormwater runoff, and even boost mental health.

City Councilmember Michele Gregory said this initiative is another goal for the city. “We’ve been trying to increase the tree canopy in the city for a while. It helps with wildlife, soil retention, and air quality.”

The City Council meeting is at 6 pm in the city hall. It is located at 125 N. Division Street.
