DNREC: sand dunes no place to play in snow

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control says sand dunes in state parks should not be used for sledding or snowboarding.

Cape Henlopen State Park Superintendent Pat Cooper says that dunes are a fragile habitat for wildlife and offer protection to beaches and beach communities.

"Recent storms have already caused some damage, so we're asking the public to help protect the dunes in our ocean parks," Cooper said.

DNREC says dunes in Cape Henlopen and Delaware Seashore State Parks are closed to pedestrians year-round, apart from marked crossings.
