Traffic stop leads to multiple charges for two in Dover
DOVER, Del. – Two men are facing drug and weapons charges following a Dover-area traffic stop Tuesday night.
At around 9 p.m., troopers on patrol stopped a vehicle on Main Street after noticing that one of the vehicle’s headlights was not functioning. Troopers made contact with the driver and passenger of the vehicle, 19-year-old Terrance Mears and 19-year-old Jermaine Walker, and an infant. Troopers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and computer checks revealed that Walker had an active capias for his arrest.
Both Mears and Walker were taken into custody without incident, and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of roughly 87.16 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a revolver with an obliterated serial number. Police say Walker is a convicted felon who is prohibited from possessing firearms.
Mears was charged with possession of a firearm while possessing a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a weapon with an obliterated serial number, second degree conspiracy, endangering the welfare of a child, and failure to have two headlamps. He was later released on a $43,001 secured bond.
