Local rotary club receives funding for Labyrinth project

In Salisbury, one non-profit is jumping for joy after learning that they received funds from Maryland's General Assembly for one of their projects.

The Salisbury Rotary Club will get $100,000 for the Labyrinth project, which will commemorate 100 years since the Rotary Club started.

One of their goals is to spread peace and they thought a walking Labyrinth would be the perfect addition for the community.

"It is meditative and peaceful but then also we wanted to use it in a proactive way to address conflict and that sort of stuff. It also becomes a space that you can do community circles and community circles being an opportunity for people to come together and kind of talk through problems," says George Whitehead from the Salisbury Rotary Club.

They've had conversations with Salisbury Police Chief Barbara Duncan and other community leaders who say this labyrinth could be used in so many ways. The club hopes to break ground in March of 2019.
