Discover Delmarva Arts: Salisbury Art Space

SALISBURY, Md. — This year, the Salisbury Art Space ushered in spring with their Pretty in Pastels exhibit. Organizers say that the exhibit was meant to capture the energy and spirit of spring, and local artists brought that vision to life with their submissions.

“The Pretty in Pastels exhibit is a spring centric exhibit that’s focused on bringing a little bit more color and a more floral environment to the Salisbury Art Space. We’re focusing on some landscapes, some beautiful shore sights, just anything that can bring a little more color,” said Salisbury Art Space Vice President Elvin Hernandez.

And what better way is there to welcome the warmer weather than with paintings of sunny beaches, blooming flowers, and classic signs of spring like adorable lambs.

“We wanted to give some balance to a lot of our offerings, so this one is definitely more color centric. . . We thought with the spring season coming up it would be great to get bright colors that symbolize and represent what we think of in terms of spring,” Hernandez said.

“This one definitely is supposed to focus a little bit on rebirth, a little bit on the idea of springtime, on floral patterns, that sort of stuff,” Salisbury Art Space President Bradley Hudson said.

Hudson said that what sets the gallery apart from others is their dedication to serving the community. “For us, it’s really about representing the local community. . . We are a space for the local artists, for growing artists, for established artists, for learning artists. We take whatever we’re given, and we exhibit everyone’s work equally.”
