Greensboro Volunteer Fire Co. awarded $50K for new equipment

Salisbury, Md. – The state of Maryland has awarded the Greensboro Volunteer Fire Co. a $50,000 grant, which the company says will go toward buying new state-of-the-art equipment.

The grant is through the state’s Legislative Bond Initiative program, which supports local community capital projects.  The company says the funding will go towards new, state-of-the-art, battery-operated extrication tools.

WMDT spoke with President and First Captain Charles Totaro, who says the funding will help them serve the community.

“We’re a small department, so, you know, we need all the help we can get,” Totaro said. “And when it comes to their safety and their well-being, we’ll obviously do great strides to ensure that we get the funding we need to keep them safe and make sure that they know it.”
