Hello, Delmarva! My name is Camila Fernandez, and I am your bilingual reporter and weekend producer at 47 ABC.

Growing up, I watched my grandfather lead communities and interview prominent figures as a journalist in Barranquilla, Colombia. His stories on politics and the status of the country shaped my passion for journalism at a very young age. Today, I feel a responsibility to report news about issues that affect U.S. Hispanic communities.
I have covered news in South Florida and Arizona as a multimedia reporter. Some stories include the celebration of Cuban-Americans after Fidel Castro’s death and protests against President Trump and the Venezuelan government.

I studied at Florida International University (FIU) School of Communication + Journalism and graduated magna cum laude. There, I was the News Director for my student newspaper and radio. I covered the crime beat, which led to my first international headline story. During my studies, I also interned for ABC affiliate KNXV-TV in Phoenix and BBC Worldwide in Miami, Coral Gables.

For the past years, I have also been a correspondent for TV and radio in Colombia and interviewed at the 2014 Miss Universe Pageant and Expo 2015 in Milan, Italy. Besides keeping up to date with the news, I love practicing my French, traveling the world, and singing to Shakira. Follow me on Twitter @Camila47ABCFacebook and Instagram.
