Weather Tidbits: Earth Day

It’s all Earth Day on this Weather Tidbits. Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd to celebrate the planet’s environment and promote its concern. The idea was created by Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson and the 1st one was celebrated in 1970. The success of the event led to legislation which included the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act & Endangered Species Act; along with the creation of the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) which were all signed by President Richard Nixon.  Today, it’s currently the largest secular holiday worldwide and mobilizing over a billion people with volunteerism and civic engagement in over 190 countries.
