Weather Tidbits: Hunter’s Moon

This Weather Tidbits discusses the Hunter’s moon which took place on Halloween. The hunter’s moon is named due to animals being fattened and hunted in preparation for winter, with the added light just after sunset. This full moon is also called the sanguine and blood moon, due to the blood of the hunted animals and fall foliage. The Hunter’s moon will have shorter lags between moonrises, reaching as low as 24 minutes, similar to the harvest moon a month prior.
