Weather Tidbits: Dust and Sand Storms

Dust and sand storms take over this Weather Tidbits. A dust storm is where strong winds are able to lift and fill the air with particles of fine dust, while a sand storm is when sand is prevalent instead. A dust storm is considered when the visibility drops below half a mile, which can happen in seconds. Dust and sand storms happen along leading edges of cold fronts creating a cloud of dust and sand that spreads for thousands of miles.
