New $1.9 million building coming to downtown Dover

DOVER, Del. – A non-profit in Dover is expanding its reach with a new $1.9 million building right in the heart of downtown.

NCALL is an organization that specializes in affordable housing, development, education and lending. Its new 3-story building will be at the corner of North New and West Division Street. It will house NCALL’s restoring central Dover staff, a community meeting space as well as a Delaware State University College of Business small business incubator. It’s an area that organizers say serves as a gateway into the city and will hopefully inspire more growth in the state’s capital.

“We’re hoping that building a really beautiful building here will spur others to invest in the area, will regenerate interest in the community and just be an economic driver for the community,” says Patricia Kelleher, the real estate development director for NCALL.

Officials tell 47 ABC that they have about half of the money funded so far. They are working on finalizing plans with the city before they release a bid for contractors. They hope to break ground on the new building in the fall.
