A Maryland woman was arrested on several charges after police say she was using drugs at a hospital and later assaulted the staff.

The Easton Police Department says on Wednesday, officers responded to the University of Maryland Medical Center in reference to an assault. Once on scene, officers encountered a victim, who reported that there was a woman in the bathroom that was seen by hospital staff using a controlled dangerous substance.

According to the report, upon being confronted by hospital staff, 24-year-old Mary Katherine Owens punched the hospital staff in the face twice. In the stall, police say they found several wax papers containing suspected residue that was later tested and found to be heroin.

The Easton woman was arrested and charged with one count of second degree assault, one count of CDS possession not marijuana, and one count of CDS possession of paraphernalia.

She was released on her personal recognizance.
