Millsboro gets funds to revamp their downtown

Millsboro's downtown area will be seeing improvements.

The town's $8 million budget for the 2019 fiscal year has $200,000 set aside to renovate the Main Street sidewalks.

We're told the current concrete walkways have been in bad shape for quite some time. Millsboro's town manager, Sheldon Hudson, says improvements will include the installation of brick or stone sidewalks, in order to replace the old ones.

Hudson says this simple change will be a big boost to attract even more visitors. "That's a big part of this to make the downtown more walkable, safer. Everything will be ADA accessible, so we're certainly hoping people will put their walking shoes on and take advantage once the downtown is done."

This fall, Millsboro will do one side of the sidewalks and then they'll finish the other next fall.

Beyond sidewalks, they plan to add street lights to give that same vibe as Easton and Berlin.
