Del. man arrested in connection with extortion investigation

A Delaware man is in custody after police say he threatened to kill a person if they did not give him money that he demand in a note.

The Milford Police Department says on Wednesday, 26-year-old Nikolah Rivera of Houston was arrested in connection with an extortion investigation. Police say on July 30, just before 8:55 AM, the Milford Police Department Criminal Investigations Division was notified of an extortion investigation. Authorities report that an unknown person left a note on the victim's vehicle demanding an undisclosed amount of money or the person would kill the victim.

According tot he report, detective determine the threat to be credible and Rivera was identified as a suspect.

Rivera was charged with extortion, theft under $1,500, and criminal mischief under $1,000.

He was committed to the Department of Corrections in default of $9,250 secured bail and issued a no contact order with the victim.
