Annual National Night Out set for Aug. 7

On Tuesday, August 7, law enforcement and the communities they serve will participate in annual National Night Out events.

It's an event that many local communities have been participating in for years, including the city of Salisbury.

They're taking the event to the next level this year in hopes of bringing even more community members out for a fun-filled night of free prizes, a 5k run, and lots of food.

But it's so much more than just any other free event, it's designed to grow support in neighborhoods, explain crime prevention, and build relations between the community and police.

Salisbury Police Chief Barbara Duncan says, "It allows for that really close engagement in a non=-dynamic environment. When we're not focusing on a crime that has just occurred, we're not working with our victims, when were not looking for a suspect so everyone is just relaxed engaged and it's a great time."

Salisbury's National Night Out is happening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday where they will have tons of raffles, including 100 bike giveaways.

Here's a list of places participating on Delmarva:
