Youth helping youth at summer service weekend
Meanwhile in Dover more than 50 children traded in their flip flops and beach towels for work gloves, shovels, and a power washer in an effort to serve others at the Elizabeth W. Murphey School. On Friday, teenagers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints came from congregations all across Delmarva to participate in a two-day youth conference meant to strengthen their faith and each other. Teens tackled a handful of projects at the school from tearing down old buildings to painting playground equipment and more.
"The youth representative said that they wanted to do something that when they were done it felt like it mattered it felt like it made a difference and so with that we ran with it and here we are six months later doing this," said event organizer
Organizers also say the youth helping youth program is the largest service event in the world and has served millions of communities worldwide.
