Smoke detector give-away to be held at the Community Resource Center in Del.

A Delaware center announces an upcoming smoke detector give-away that is scheduled for later this month.

The Community Resource Center says on July 21, from 9:00 AM to Noon, the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company will distribute free smoke detectors to low and moderate income families. Center officials say the smoke detectors have a 10-year fixed lithium battery which will last the entire life of the equipment.

The Community Resource Center is located at 37510 Oyster House Road, in Rehoboth Beach.

Fire companies throughout Delaware apparently hand out free smoke detectors as part of the continuing fire safety initiative known as Wake up Delaware, which began in 2001. Fire officials will also be on site to provide fire safety information to the community. Refreshments will be provided.

For more information on the smoke detector give-away, call the Community Resource Center at 302-227-1340.
