Woman charged with assault after physical altercation

A Milford woman has been charged with third degree assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child after police say she got into a physical altercation while trying to visit her children.

Police say that on Sunday evening, 34-year old Vanessa Diaz went to see her children at a home on the 200 block of North St in Milford. While there, Diaz was was asked to leave numerous times by the homeowner due to previous issues that she had caused. However, she refused to leave and an argument broke out between her and one of the residents which later turned physical.

Diaz left the home prior to police arriving.Investigation revealed that two children were asleep inside the residence, were awoken by the arguing, and saw the fight.

The victim did have physical injury from the assault, but declined medical treatment. Police then obtained a warrant for Diaz.

Diaz turned herself into the Milford PD that night  where she was released on $1200.00 unsecured bail with a no contact order with all victims involved in the case.  

She was ordered to appear at a later date in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas reference to this incident.
