Witnesses react to news of missing body found in Ocean City bay
It was a sad day in Ocean City Maryland as officials announced early Monday afternoon that they had found the body of missing 23-year-old Ceasar Martinez Saravia. Martinez Saravia's body was discovered just south of 67th street in a bayside canal.
"I was out walking with my sister in law who owns a condo on Sunset Allen and we were just chatting along walking along the side of the path and we just happened to look up and my sister in law mentioned 'what's going on up there?' It looks like a scene out of a movie because it was people everywhere," said visitor Isabella Pickett.
The victim was reported missing by his friends to the police early Sunday morning and was last seen in the area of 62nd street in Ocean City on Saturday. Officials along with help from the Maryland Natural Resources Police immediately began searching for Martinez Saravia. Police say through investigation and and help from video surveillance footage detectives were led to the location of his body.
"I happened to see a scuba diver and then we continued to walk and a young lady stopped us and at that point we thought something had happened, something tragic," said Pickett.
Martinez Saravia's body has been sent to the Chief Medical Examiners Office in Maryland where they hope to determine the cause of death. Police add that there were no signs of foul play to be suspected at this time and hat there was no obvious signs of injury. An investigation is still ongoing at this time.
