Visitors pack beaches to watch Grand Prix

The beaches were packed in Ocean City today for the annual O.C. Grand Prix, featuring upwards of 40 high speed boat racing squads.

The event has been around for a couple decades now and continues to grow in popularity as more people are introduced to the sport of offshore racing.

The event is the first race in the GEICO Triple Crown series.

Those associated with the race teams tell us why they choose to come back to Ocean City for the event.

"One of the reasons we come to Ocean City is because of the tremendous beaches, you've got a close inlet and the community really supports it," said team manager Scot Colton.

This race is the first of three for the GEICO Triple Crown Offshore Powerboat racing series, and will conclude in August in Massachusetts.
