Town of Pittsville gets new youth center

In Pittsville, the town is finally welcoming its first ever youth center. The new center is run by members from the Forge Youth and Family Academy. The facility will offer a variety of programs for youth ranging in all ages including fellowship, games, and life lessons, while also including some special outings such as beach and fishing trips. Owner and CEO of the center, Richard Shrevies, says he hopes the center will be a safe haven for kids to come to while also keeping them out of trouble.

"There's not one like it anywhere. It's unlike the YMCA or anywhere else that they could go and we wanted a safe bully free, alcohol free, drug free environment where kids can go and just be kids. Very inexpensive, or free activities for every age group and that's just what they need in the summer, instead of being out and about and doing things they maybe shouldn't," said Shrevies.

The youth center will hold its official ribbon cutting next Saturday July 16th at 10 AM.
