Somerset Co. woman dead after two-vehicle crash; investigation ongoing

A Maryland woman has died after police say a crash involving a tractor trailer happened in Somerset County.

Maryland State Police say on Tuesday, around 9:00 PM, troopers with the MSP Princess Anne Barrack responded to Hudson Corner Road, just west of Landon Store Road, for a for a two-vehicle crash. Troopers say a black Volkswagen was traveling west on Hudson Corner Road. Authorities report that  as the Volkswagen continued west, a tractor trailer hauling live chickens was making a left turn from a private driveway onto Hudson Corner Road and continuing east.

According to the report, the driver's side of the Volkswagen hit the side of the trailer, causing the Volkswagen to come to rest in a nearby ditch. Investigators say Curtis Holland Jr., of Orlando, Florida, was identified as the driver of the tractor trailer. Holland was not injured as a result of the crash.

MSP reports that the 63-year-old Vicky Bishop Ford, of Marion Station, was the driver of the Volkswagen. Police say the 63-year-old woman was injured as a result of the crash. Ford apparently succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of this fatal crash remains under investigation
