Milton PD collecting cell phones for victims of domestic violence

The Milton Police Department is starting a new initiative to help victims of domestic violence.

Currently they're collecting cell phones, so that they can be distributed to victims of domestic violence.

We're told the phones are key so that victims always have a way to get in touch with law enforcement if needed.

Chief Robert Longo tells us, "It gives them direct access to police or emergency services, if they need it. They can't dial 9-1-1 without a phone, so this is something that they can use right away to get the help that they need."

You can do your part by dropping off cell phones at their office any day of the week.

We're told the Milton PD is partnering up with a non-profit to distribute the phones, but that they wish to keep the name of that organization private to protect the victim's privacy.
