Man injured in Dover shooting; investigation ongoing

An investigation is ongoing after police say a man was shot outside of his Dover home.

Delaware State Police say on Wednesday, around 10:30 PM, troopers responded to a local hospital where a 19-year-old victim was brought in with a gunshot wound. Troopers learned that the shooting happened on the 100 block of President Drive, in Capitol Park, when the victim was behind his residence smoking and he heard multiple "pops". He then apparently realized he was shot.

Investigators say the victim reported seeing a suspect wearing a dark colored sweatshirt running into the woods.

The victim was privately taken to a local hospital with a single gunshot wound to his upper torso. Police say he was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this incident.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to call Detective T. Boyce at 302-698-8442 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
