Latest update on partial building collapse in downtown Cambridge

Just two weeks ago, a partial building collapsed on the 500 block of Race Street in Cambridge. And now, the city is ready to move forward with their latest plans.

This a two-phase process. At first, they needed to stabilize the building and get the street back up and running. They started to demolish last Thursday and the roadway is now open.

Currently they are in their next phase: to find a proper vendor to take the building down quickly and safely.

Cambridge's Economic Development Department says they have high hopes for this area.

The building has been in this type of condition for eight years. There were plans in the works for the building but they ran out of time.
