Habitat for Humanity holds homeowner roof & repair interest meeting for Somerset seniors

If you're a low-income senior living in Somerset county looking for help repairing your home you may be in luck. On Monday, Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County along with the Somerset County Planning and Zoning, the Town of Princess Anne and the City of Crisfield, held one of two meetings for current homeowners that are seeking assistance for critical home repairs and home modification. Officials say there is a gap in resources to fund home modifications and critical home repairs to low income elderly homeowners that live in Somerset County and across the region, and they want that changed.

"They need some basic home modifications like extra handrails, or grab bars or maybe they need their handles changed out to a leaver because of arthritis or what have you, most contractors don't want to take on a small job like that so we would like to help those families so that they can age in place and live in their home as long as they want to," said Habitat for Humanity executive director Molly Hilligoss.

The next scheduled Homeowner Roof and Repair Interest Meeting will take place Wednesday at 10 AM at the Princess Ann Town Hall conference room.
