Governor Carney signs bill that gives pets second chance at life

A new Delaware law looks to protects our furry friends.

Wednesday, Governor John Carney signed off on Senate Bill 101, commonly referred to as the 'Beagle Bill'. According to the Rescue and Freedom Project,  beagles are commonly used in research facilities because of their calm demeanor.

This new law would allow dogs and cats  used in research labs to be put up for adoption. Sponsors of the bill say every year over 1000 million animals are used for research and then put down after their testing days are done. We're told this new law gives them a second chance at life.
