Gelof drafted by Cleveland; Still to attend Virginia
It's been a whirlwind of a week for Cape Henlopen's Zach Gelof.
He was named Delaware's Gatorade State Player of the Year.
Then, he powered Cape to their first state baseball title in school history.
The following day, walked across the stage at graduation.
And, it was capped off by being drafted in the 38th round by the Cleveland Indians.
It left the recent high school graduate with a tough choice to make: college or pro ball?
In an exclusive interview with 47ABC, Zack says that he'll hold his commitment to the University of Virginia.
"I would still want to college, because I signed a commitment, that's where I want to be, to grow as a person and as a player," he said in a phone interview. "I believe it's in my best interest. for me. Right now, my draft stock is not great, but in three years from now, it could be."
Gelof signed a letter of intent to play for the Cavaliers this past fall.
This summer, he'll be playing in the Futures League for the Brockton Rox up in Massachusetts.
