‘For My Father’, The Robinson Family Story

Matthew Robinson is a rising junior at Frostburg State University, competes in indoor and outdoor track at the college. Although Matthew is well recognized on the track, its what he did off it that got him the ultimate acclaim.

Matt, a Wicomico High School alumni, elected to sit out his junior indoor track season and part of his outdoor season, to donate a kidney to his ailing father Kim. Kim had been on dialysis for about 6 months, before the family decided to look for a match.

The unsung hero appeared in the younger Robinson as Matthew underwent surgery to remove his kidney, and donate it to his father on January 2, 2018. Just 6 weeks after going under the knife, Robinson was back at practice and competing. Robinson finished 10th in the CAC conference championships, and was named Frostburg Comeback Athlete of the Year. Even more important, Robinson became just the second Bobcat ever to receive the conferences' Medal of Inspiration.

'For My Father' debuted originally on 47ABC on Sunday, June 17 (Father's Day). We wish the Robinson family the best of luck on their continued journey.
