Delaware man found hiding in same home he burglarized
A Felton man is now facing burglary charges after police say he was observed breaking into a home he allegedly stole items from the week before.
On Thursday June 14, the Delaware State Police arrested 34-year-old, Jesse A. Nichols after finding him hiding in the garage of a home on the 13000 block of St. Johnstown Road.
At around 8:28 AM Troopers were called to the residence for a report of a burglary in progress called in by a neighbor. The investigation revealed that Nichols' stepfather currently lives at the residence and Nichols had not lived there for the past 3 to 4 years.
According to the report Nichols had entered the same property on June 6, and stole several items, including a jewelry box, cuff link, and a Colman cooler. These items were later found in Nichols' vehicle and returned to the stepfather.
Nichols was transported back to Troop 5 where he was charged with second and third degree burglary and felony theft. He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,495.00 cash only bond.
