City to host sanctioned fireworks for Fourth celebrations

Lewes is changing up their Fourth of July celebrations this year.    47 ABC has learned that the city will be holding its first ever fully sanctioned fireworks display this Fourth of July.

The fireworks will be shot off from a barge off of the Lewes Beach at dusk.  We're told the best place to watch will be between the Roosevelt Inlet and the Cape May-Lewes Ferry terminal.

"We will have sanctioned fireworks on a barge off of the beaches for the first time.  And so it will be a new adventure for the city but it's done by the people and for the people," said Lewes deputy mayor Fred Beaufait.

The fireworks will be the night cap of a day full of festivities including the annual boat parade.  You can also call the Lewes Chamber of Commerce for more information.
