City of Salisbury seeks new Habitat for Humanity project

The Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County is looking to do some construction in Salisbury to help house families with low incomes.

The Salisbury City Council is looking to pass a new resolution on Monday, June 25 that would allow for the construction of four houses near East Church Street and the west side neighborhoods.

The project also includes a grant application for a community investment tax credit.

Businesses who donate 500 dollars or more would get a Maryland tax credit equal to half of their donation.

"It's all about community development, and it's through the department of housing and community development," said the Habitat for Humanity Executive Director, Molly Hilligoss.

"The donations that come in through this program get restricted directly to construction of those homes," said Hilligoss.

According to Hilligoss, the houses are especially important for large families who might only make 30,000 dollars a year.
