18th annual Ocean City Surf Club contest

Surfers from all over the country, made their way to Ocean City to "walk da plank".

At least 14 pro surfers from Florida all the way to New Jersey braved the fog for a $5,000 prize, in the 18th annual Pro Surf Contest.

The two day event is the biggest fundraiser for the Ocean City Surf Club.

Surfers tell 47 ABC they enjoy coming to the non profit's event, not only for the chance to win big, but to enjoy the local atmosphere.

"It's nice to come out and be a part of this stuff and to surf and yea if you win you get paid. You know that's always nice," says Kevin DeWald, New Jersey competing surfer.

Tommy Vach, President of Ocean City Surf Club tells 47 ABC, that the prize money comes from different sponsors and member dues.

He also says the money raised during the event goes toward educational scholarships, youth mentoring programs and adopt your beach environmental programs.
