Wicomico Yacht Club nears opening
After nearly 16 months of construction, the Wicomico Yacht Club is almost finished and just in time for the upcoming season.
We all remember the fire that destroyed the yacht's club house. At the time, it was estimated that the facility suffered $500,000 in damage, $300,000 to the structure and another $200,000 to it's contents.
For over a year, they've been working to get another building completed and here it is, new and improved.
It's an experience that has actually brought this club's community closer.
"The excitement of it all and the layout and the camaraderie has just grown. The membership has grown ten percent since this time last year," says Peter Hanulak, Commodore at Wicomico Yacht Club.
The Club says they couldn't have done it without the community's support. They will officially open on Memorial Day weekend with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
