UPDATE: Md. man sentenced in 2017 crash death in Ocean City

Stanley Faison, 51, of Waldorf, MD

A man was sentenced above the guidelines for his role in the 2017 death of a Virginia man, in Ocean City.

The Office of the State's Attorney for Worcester County says on Friday, 51-year-old Stanley Faison, of Waldorf, MD, was sentenced to 10 years in the Department of Corrections with all but six years suspended. Faison was was found guilty of homicide while driving under the influence in January 2018.

In May 2017, Faison struck and killed 23-year-old J.R. Ednie, of Manassas, VA, during "Cruisin Week" in Ocean City. The 51-year-old was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

Interim State's Attorney for Worcester County Bill McDermot apparently asked the judge to sentence Faison above the sentencing guidelines as he is a three-time offender. Authorities report that Faison was found guilty of DUI in 2011, and he was recently found guilty of DUI in Minnesota just 27 days before the incident in Ocean City.

Faison will be subject to three years of supervised probation following his release.
