UPDATE: Man sentenced in 2016 rape case in Wicomico County

A man was sentenced for his role in the 2016 rape of a teenage girl, in Salisbury. 

The Office of the State's Attorney for Wicomico County says on Wednesday, 20-year-old Tevin Dennis, of Salisbury was was sentenced to life in prison with all but 50 years suspended. On January 10, Dennis was convicted of rape first degree and related charges stemming from an attack that happened on May 23, 2016.

On that day, Dennis attacked a 13-year-old girl in a parking lot near the 200 block of Newton Street. During the attack, Dennis placed his arm around the girl's neck to prevent her from screaming. Authorities say the 20-year-old then threw the victim against a parked car and onto the ground, where he engaged in a forcible sexual assault resulting in injury to the victim.

Upon his release, Dennis will be registered as a Tier III sexually violent offender for life.
