Teen charged in connection to incident at school in Talbot Co.

A teen was charged in connection to an incident at a Talbot County school after police say items, including a note mentioning a non-specific threat towards students, was found.

The Easton Police Department says on Tuesday, officers responded to Easton Middle School after a replica bullet and note was found in the female's restroom.

Police say officials had already begun to evacuate the students and staff. According to the report, the note mentioned a non-specific threat towards the student body. Police determined that the replica bullet was found to be a novelty cigarette lighter.

Detectives report that the investigation led them to interview a 13-year-old 8th grade student, who admitted to leaving the items in the restroom. Police say during the interview, the Trappe teen expressed remorse with no real intent to injure or harm anyone.

On Wednesday, the 13-year-old girl was charged with one count of disrupting school operations and she was referred to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
