Authorities are searching for an armed robbery suspect after they say the man made off with cash and cigarettes from a store, in Preston.

The Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division Upper Shore Region says on Tuesday, shortly after 10:30 PM, the MSP Easton Barrack responded to the Shore Stop, on Main Street, for a reported armed robbery. Police say video surveillance shows a man entering the store and ordering the employee to give him money from the register, after initially requesting a pack of cigarettes.

According to the report, the employee complied with the demands after noticing that the bulge in the suspect's pocket resembled the appearance of a handgun. The suspect fled the store after receiving an undisclosed amount of money and a pack of cigarettes.

Authorities report that they were unable to locate the suspect despite an extensive search by MSP and the Caroline County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect was described as wearing a grey/white hooded sweatshirt, black North Face jacket, blue jeans, and white high top shoes with red bottom tread at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information related to the identity of the suspect in the photos is asked to call MSP TFC Dadds at 410-819-4782.
