Officials: Fire began outside Kent Co. home; investigation ongoing

A house fire remains under investigation after authorities say it caused over $150,000 in damages, in Worton.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal says on Wednesday, just before 11:00 PM, the Kennedyville Volunteer Fire Company responded to a house fire in the 11300 block of Station Road. Officials say while watching tv, the home owner noticed a fire outside of her home and she was able to safely evacuate. A neighbor also apparently noticed the fire and called 911.

According to the report, 29 firefighters worked to put out the blaze in 43 minutes. No one was injured during the incident.

Authorities say the fire caused $170,000 in estimated total damages. 

This fire remains under investigation.
