Man charged in connection to road rage incident in Dover
A man is facing charges after authorities say he was involved in a road rage incident on a Dover roadway, where he pulled a gun on another driver.
The Dover Police Department says on Sunday, just after 4:30 PM, a 37-year-old man was driving northbound on S. DuPont Highway, approaching Lotus Street. At that time, police say 51-year-old Gerald Bonanni pulled his Chevrolet Silverado out directly in front of the man, which caused him to suddenly brake. As the vehicles then traveled next to each other, Bonanni reportedly gave the 37-year-old the middle finger.
Authorities say when the two vehicles approached a red light at the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard intersection, the two individuals began a verbal argument. According to the report, Bonanni then pointed a handgun at the other driver as the vehicles began to travel.
Officers say they were notified by the victim. Dover PD reports that Bonanni was located in his vehicle in the parking lot of Kohl's, on N. DuPont Highway.
He was arrested a charged with possession of a firearm during commission of felony and aggravated menacing.
The 51-year-old was released after posting a $33,000 secured bond.
