Eastern Shore receives over 50,000 meal kits to feed those in need
Over 50,000 meal kits came rolling into the Maryland Food Bank today to help feed those in need across the Eastern Shore, courtesy of the Governor's Office and other departments in the state.
HALO is just one of the several organizations that were on the receiving end getting about 1,000 kits.
We're told the donation was much needed because in the last two months, they've served over 13,000 meals.
"We depend on the community to help us to feed the people that come through, which averages in a day time 225 people. It means a lot to know that we have this extra amount of food coming in that we're going to be able to use," Executive Director, Celeste Savage tells us.
HALO says they plan to start handing those meal kits out as soon as possible.
