Deputies: Salisbury teen charged in connection with incident at Wicomico Co. school

A teen is in custody after deputies say he had a knife during an altercation at a high school, in Salisbury. 

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office says on March 19, a deputy began an investigation into an altercation between students in a breezeway at Wicomico High School. Authorities say during the investigation, a deputy learned that one of the students involved in the incident, a 16-year-old male of Salisbury, pulled a knife from his pocket and started waving it towards other students in the area. 

At this time, the teen was also reportedly making statements that were interpreted as threatening.

The 16-year-old was taken into custody and charged with attempted first degree assault, assault 2nd degree, wear/carry a concealed deadly weapon, dangerous weapon on school property, wear/carry a deadly weapon with the intent to injure, disorderly conduct, and affray. Deputies report that the teen was charged as an adult per Maryland statute.

The 16-year-old is being held without bond at the Wicomico County Detention Center.
