Cambridge considers car charging stations
We have good news for those of you who drive electric cars. The City of Cambridge could soon become equipped with four car charging stations.
A non-profit organization called Downtown Cambridge is behind the initiative. They say the effort to get charging stations installed has been in the works for over a year now.
Officials say they are looking to install the charging stations somewhere on Race Street, one of the busiest streets in Downtown Cambridge.
As of right now, the plan is to install three Tesla chargers, and one universal charger. The Tesla units will be donated by Tesla at no charge.
Overall, Downtown Cambridge officials are hoping to have these chargers installed sometime soon, but nothing has been set in stone just yet.
They are currently working with the city on getting everything approved.
Katie Clendaniel, the Executive Director for Downtown Cambridge said, "So we're hoping to be really close here in the next few weeks and then working on installation in the late spring early summer."
Downtown Cambridge officials hope the charging stations will bring more people downtown.
They also hope the stations will encourage more people to go electric.
