Wicomico County students receive virtual library cards

Virtual technology is now giving Wicomico County students an easier way to access books and resources from the county libraries.

Instead of having to go into the library and sign up with a parent to get a library card, every 1st through 12th grade student in Wicomico County is already assigned one.

Students can get material online by logging on and typing in WCPS and then the student's meal number.

They can also rent books in person as long as they know their meal number.

"They can take out five print materials, they can access all the databases we have 45 online and they can use computers at any of our libraries for free. No overdue fees, no fines, just bring the material back and we're good to go," explains Andrea Berstler, Wicomico County Public Libraries Executive Director.

The county hopes kids will utilize all the library has to offer more now that access is easier.
