Valentine’s Day serves as a sweet holiday for local flower shop
Love is definitely in the air this Valentine's Day, but it's not because of Cupid's arrow rather shoppers getting last minute gifts for their loved ones.
Which makes Valentine's Day crazy busy for flower shops like Kitty's flowers in Salisbury.
"Valentine's Day is by far our busiest day of the year."
Kitty's Flowers is 20 times busier on Valentine's Day, so to make sure everyone is able to get their loved ones something special, extra reinforcements are a must.
"We rent extra trucks for the week and make sure we can meet the demand of all the deliveries that need to be handled," says Colleen Nichols.
They go from six drivers to 23 just for this holida. Kitty's Flowers says that's the only way they can deliver the thousands of bouquets ordered because almost everyone waits until the last minute.
"Today is the day that everybody wants to come in."
One costumer, Stanley Pete, telling 47 ABC, "I always do it on the day of Valentine's Day that way you know your roses are as fresh as they can be."
Whether it's beautiful red roses or delicious chocolate covered strawberries, folks are making sure their significant others feel the love.
Pete says, "Usually I get her, there's always a special gift she wants, so this year it's boots but you have get the chocolate covered strawberries, a ballon, and a dozen roses. It's a must."
And even though the line of people and phones ringing off the hook all day is a little crazy, those at Kitty's Flowers are just happy to spread the love.
"It just makes you happy to be able to help someone make someone else happy," says Nichols.
Regardless of whether or not your loved one got you chocolates, it's a sweet day for everyone even those working at Kitty's Flowers.
