Tony Wuest: 100 and Counting
Smyrna wrestling has put together one of the more impressive resumes in the state of Delaware; capturing state title's and producing Division I talent like 2018 Captain Tony Wuest.
Wuest is a force to be reckoned with on the mat, putting together an impressive 121-18 record heading into the home stretch of his senior season.
Wuest enters the 2018 DIAA Dual Team Wrestling Championships later this month one pin shy of 100.
Putting that number into perspective, second on the Smyrna all-time pins list has 53. To say that record has been shattered may be an understatement.
Wuest however is much more than just a dominant athlete on the mat. He is a true leader, teacher and captain to those who look to further the Eagles program.
When Head Coach Kurt Howell has Wuest address the team, the team immediately shifts their focus.
After high school is said and done, Wuest will continue is wrestling career at North Carolina State. A program and a city that Wuest could not be happier to join.
There is no doubt that Wuest's legacy on the mat is something that will always be remembered, but so will his character as he exits the Eagles and joins the Wolfpack.
