Shupe announces candidacy in district 36

There's a new contender for the 36th District seat in Delaware.  Milford Mayor Bryan Shupe has announced that he will attempt to take his talents to legislative hall.

Shupe is vying for the seat to be relinquished by incumbent Harvey Kenton.  Shupe, 33, has served as Mayor of Milford for two terms.

He says the most pressing needs for the area are access to specialized healthcare, educational opportunities, infrastructure and public education.

"Just making sure that that specialized health care is here for residents, whether it's pediatric care or senior care, and making sure that people don't have to drive all the way up to Wilmington or across the bay to Baltimore to get access to quality healthcare."

Shupe is the second person to formally announce a bid for the seat, professional carpenter Donald Allan Jr., a Democrat, first announced his plan to seek the office in January.
