Merchant’s Attic event draws thousands of bargain hunters

Cape Henlopen High School looked more like an episode of Antiques Roadshow, as it was packed with thousands of bargain hunters.

It was all part of the 2018 Merchant's Attic, which has become the biggest indoor yard sale event in Delaware, with 92 vendors serving thousands of shoppers.

Aside from helping certain folks get started on their spring cleaning, the event helps fund the Rehoboth-Dewey Chamber of Commerce.

"It is a cash flow, so it's donation based.  And we do have an appraiser on hand, they can bring their item, have it appraised and the funds from that will go back to the events that the chamber does," says chamber president Carol Everhart.  "And for the community it's just economic development."

Funds were raised through both donations at the door, and the five dollar fee to have items appraised.
